1. Timed Event

Timed Event

This is a timed event where each participant is allowed to shoot as many shots as possible within the designated round time. All made shots count as long as the shooter is on the shooting mat or circle when the shot is attempted.

The Start: The player begins at the free throw line within the circle. From there, the player may shoot from any of the designated spaces. At least one foot must be in the circle when the shot is attempted for the points to count.

  • Each player uses the same type of basketball.
  • Players may not use their own basketball.
  • Men’s basketball size: 29.5–30. Women’s: 28.5. Under 13: 27.5.
  • Each player shoots on a basket with a similar net.
  • Each player has 1:30 (1 minute, 30 seconds) to complete a round.
  • Each player shoots 2 rounds and the best combined scores move on to the next round.
  • The top 10 from each age/gender group move on to the championship round.
  • Each player rebounds their own missed attempts.
  • Players waiting to shoot may not interfere with those who are shooting.
  • Each player must be ready when their number is called.
  • Players are awarded points when they make a basket from any designated shooting mat.
  • Players are awarded 10 extra points if they attempt a shot from each designated shooting mat, even if they do not make every shot.
  • Each basket has 1 timer and 1 scorekeeper unless automatic scoring apps are used.
  • The scorekeeper is the judge and the scorekeeper’s decision is final.
  • The scorekeeper turns in results to the head scorekeeper to be tallied and posted.
  • In the event of a tie, each player has 45 seconds for a tiebreaker round.
  • Each player must abide by these rules or may be subject to disqualification.
  • Profanity of any kind is not tolerated. A player may be asked to leave.

Four (4) Point Line

Shots from the here are worth 4 points.

Second Blocks / Elbow Extended

Shots from the elbow-extended area are worth 3 points.

Free Throw Line

Shots from the free throw line are worth 2 points.

Layup

Layups are worth 1 point.

Bonus Points

Bonus points are awarded to the player who attempts each shot on the court. The player doesn't have to make each shot to be awarded the 10 bonus points, they just need to attempt all shots on the court.

Start Rule

The player begins at the free throw line on the shooting mat within the circle.

Shot Start Requirement: The player must begin the shot with at least one foot on the mat or inside the circle for points to be awarded. The player may land with both feet outside the circle after the shot has been attempted. No points are awarded if the player starts from outside one of the circles.

Bonus Rule: The player does not need to make a basket from every shooting spot to receive the 10 bonus points. The player only needs to attempt a shot from each designated spot on the court.

4. Age Groups

Competition divisions can be structured using the original age and gender grouping model.

Registration is open to the first available number of players. Each tournament may vary in participation and pricing at the local level.

Awards are given to the top 3 shooters in each age/gender division. Each participant receives a custom event T-shirt when registered.

5. Registration Fee

The event includes 8 age/gender groups: Boys/Girls 12 and Under, Boys/Girls 13–17, Men/Women 18–30, and Men/Women 31–99 or 31–100 depending on event formatting.

Awards are given to the top 3 shooters in each age/gender division. Each participant receives a custom event T-shirt when registered.

  • Regular registration fee is determined by the event (Typical Fee) $40.00 per player before the early deadline.
  • Registration fee is determined by the event (Typical Fee) $45.00 after the early deadline.
  • Registration fee is is determined by the event (Typical Fee) $50.00 the day of the event if space is available.
  • Online registration closes on the published registration deadline.
  • There is no fee to transfer a registration to another player.

Registration fee, time, and place are set at the local level for each city and event host.
