Hot Shot Nationals is a fast-paced, timed basketball shooting contest where players attempt as many shots as possible within the allotted time. Scoring is based on accuracy and proper shooting position.

Starting Position

Each player begins at the free throw line, positioned on the designated shooting mat (circle). From there, the player may move and shoot from any of the shooting locations on the court.

To receive points for a made shot, the player must have at least one foot inside the shooting circle at the moment the shot is released.

Shooting Rules

  • A shot is only valid if it is attempted with one foot inside the shooting circle.
  • Players may land outside the circle after releasing the shot.
  • No points will be awarded for shots taken when both feet are outside the circle at the time of release.

Bonus Points

Players can earn bonus points by attempting every designated shot location on the court.

  • All shot locations must be attempted to qualify.
  • Shots do not need to be made — only attempted.
  • Completion of all shot attempts awards a 10-point bonus.
